Split-Online 4.0

Starting with Split-Online 4.0, most settings are persisted in an XML properties file rather than in the Windows registry.

Properties File Name
Split-Online 4.0 - SplitOnline40.xml.

Properties File Location
The location can change, depending on the operating system and the permissions on the host computer. Split-Online will attempt to use the following folders in order:

1 Common Documents
The file system directory that contains documents that are common to all users. A typical path is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents.

2 Common Application Data
The file system directory that contains application data for all users. A typical path is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data.

3 Application Data
The file system directory that serves as a common repository for application-specific data. A typical path is C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data .

4 Local Application Data
The file system directory that serves as a data repository for local (nonroaming) applications. A typical path is C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data .

5 My Documents
The file system directory used to physically store a user's common repository of documents. A typical path is C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents .

Prior to Split-Online 4.0, all persisted settings are stored in the Windows Registry under these keys:

User-independent settings
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Split Engineering\SplitOnline

User-dependent settings
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Split Engineering\SplitOnline
